Longbow Archery
Wednesday, March 5th, 2008A longbow is tall, often being the same height or higher than the archer using it. Longbows are not significantly recurved and they have narrow D-shaped limbs in cross section. A traditional English longbow is made in such a way that its thickness is at least ⅝th of its width. If the thickness falls below ⅝th of the width the longbow is disqualified from modern longbow competitions. Typically widest at the handle longbows have been used for hunting and warfare, perhaps most famously during the Middle Ages.
